Manager Home-Start Caithness

£31,379 – £34,917 pa Part time: 30 hours per week (pro rata)

Home-Start Caithness works with families who have young children and are experiencing challenging times. We provide support within the family home. Using trained volunteers and staff our aim is to help families achieve lasting change that will improve the early life environment for their children. Preventative work and early access to the right support is the best way to achieve long-term wellbeing for children, young people and their families. As a local Home-Start we are an independent charity within the Home-Start UK federation. Our board of trustees understand the local needs of the community and families.

Part-time manager

As manager you will hold the senior staff responsibility and oversee the day to day management of the charity including staff and finances.  Directly accountable to the board of trustees. You will work with funding bodies and partners in the community to help facilitate the best outcomes for children and families.

Essential requirements:

  • Experience of leading a team, including recruitment (staff or volunteers)
  • Experience of strategic management, planning and prioritising
  • Experience of developing and managing budgets and financial systems.
  • Identifying suitable funders and submitting compliant funding bids
  • Understanding the needs of families with young children
  • Knowledge of safeguarding issues
  • The role requires sensitivity and excellent communication skills
  • You should understand and be committed to the role of the voluntary sector

The post will be subject to an enhanced PVG disclosure check, suitable references and a satisfactory probation period.
